Varun Sanyal, the Indian MMA fighter who has been striking it big in the fight game scene, has finished his 2023 year with another superb performance, this time at the 2023 IMMAF World Championships.
At the championships, which is taking place in Tirana, Albania from 20th to 25th November, Varun finished his stint with two victories and one loss, and is ultimately placed in the top eight position.
On the opening day of the championships, Varun earned a split decision win over South African Liam Schulze, followed by a unanimous decision victory against Angolan fighter Pedro Calembela on day 2. His sole loss at the tournament was against Zé Machado of Portugal on day 3.
The fighter took to X.com to comment on his feats achieved this year, which include becoming the Indian champion and earning vital wins over both the IMMAF African champion Calembela as well as South African champion Schulze.
“I finish the IMMAF 2023 World Championships with 2 wins and 1 loss, placing in the Top 8. With that, my 2023 campaign comes to an end, where I: Became the Indian Champion, defeated both the South African & IMMAF African Champions, and proved I’m amongst the best in the world,” wrote Varun.
