UFC officially announced the fight last day. Swanson is currently on a two-fight losing streak at the moment with losses against Frankie Edgar and Brian Ortega respectively. His defeat against Edgar came at UFC Fight Night 128 via a decision while the fight with Ortega had ended in a submission in the second round.

Prior to these two defeats, Swanson was on a four-fight winning streak with wins over Artem Lobov, Doo Ho Choi, Tatsuya Kawajiri and Hacran Dias.

Swanson’s professional record currently stands at 25-9. Moicano, meanwhile, is riding high on momentum after defeating Calvin Kattar at UFC 223. Prior to this decision victory, the Brazilian had suffered a submission loss to Brian Ortega which remains as the only defeat in his MMA career.

He currently holds a record of 12-1 to his name and will be looking to improve his place in the Featherweight division by getting the better of Swanson.

The UFC 227 fight card

The addition of Cub Swanson vs. Renato Moicano is a huge boost for the UFC 227 fight card which is already stacked with some exciting fights. The main event of the show will see the rematch between UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw and former champion Cody Garbrandt.

Derek Brunson will also be returning to the card when he fights Antonio Carlos Junior. JJ Aldrich vs. Polyana Viana will be another major attraction on the card.

Elsewhere, there is a reason for Indian fans to be excited about the fight card as well. Bharat Kandare, who is the first ever Indian-born UFC Fighter, will be making his return to the UFC octagon when he fights Wuliji Buren. This will be the second UFC fight for Bharat after his short-notice debut ended in defeat at UFC Shanghai.
