Jason Knight will fight Makwan Amirkhani at UFC Liverpool this weekend. It’s a huge fight for both the fighters and ahead of the fight, Knight is not impressed by Makwan Amirkhani.
Knight opened up about his friction with Amirkhani during an interview with MMA Junkie and said that he is not happy with the lack of respect from Amirkhani.
“He’s a little (expletive). He thinks he’s going to go out here and finish me in the first round? He’s not giving me no respect at all. The lady (interviewing) asked him, ‘What do you think about your opponent Jason Knight?’ He said, ‘When I think about Jason Knight, I just think that I’m going to kill him.’ He said, ‘That’s all there is to it.’ … He says, ‘I’m a better wrestler than him, I’m better than him on the ground, I’m better than him standing up. I’ll beat him wherever it goes,” Knight said.
He also went on to slam Amirkhani for predicting an easy fight.
“Then at the end they asked him, ‘What’s your prediction for this fight?’ He said, ‘I’m going to punish him, I’m going make him bleed and mark my words, it will not go to a second round.’ So I promise you, I promise you one damn thing: If it don’t go to the second round, it’s not going to be because Jason Knight lost,” Knight added.
The confrontation
Knight also detailed an interesting confrontation he had with Amirkhani.
“I’ve seen him (Wednesday) out in the hallway and he says, ‘Man, you came a long way for one round. I said, ‘Nah, mother(expletive), I came a long way to shut your mouth,” Knight said.
UFC Liverpool takes place this Sunday at the Echo Arena in Liverpool and will be headlined by a Welterweight contest between Darren Till and Stephen Thompson.
