Cormier had suffered a nasty fall after the UFC 226 press conference last day when he tripped over a speaker and fell. A statement from Cormier was posted by Brett Okamoto of ESPN via Twitter in which Cormier assured that the fight is going ahead despite the last-minute issue.

You can see the tweet below.

UFC has already suffered a major blow ahead of UFC 226. The promotion was forced to cancel their co-main event of the pay-per-view after Max Holloway showed symptoms of a concussion. Holloway was eventually taken off the card and so was his opponent Brian Ortega.

As a result, the fight between Derrick Lewis and Francis Ngannou will now serve as the co-main event. Losing Miocic vs. Cormier fight from the card is something that UFC cannot afford and though Cormier has said that the fight is on, it would be interesting to see what goes down.
