Top Welterweight contenders Alex Oliveira and Neil Magny will face each other in Sao Paulo, Brazil, sources confirmed following a report by Combate. UFC Sao Paulo takes place at the Ibirapuera gymnasium on Sept. 22.
Magny has back-to-back wins following a submission loss to former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anj
os at UFC 215 this past September. Magny last appeared at UFC Fight Night 130, where he defeated short-notice foe Craig White via the first-round knockout on May 27. The Elevation Fight Team representative has won three of his last four bouts, including triumphs over Carlos Condit and Johny Hendricks.
Oliveira (18-5-1, 2 no-contest) scored the biggest victory of his MMA career in April, submitting Condit with a guillotine choke in the co-main event of UFC on FOX 29. Oliveira needed to rebound from the loss he suffered to the hands of Yancy Medeiros via third-round TKO in a “Fight of the Year” candidate at UFC 218.
