3 Indian junior fighters lose at the Amateur MMA World Championships

The IMMAF | WMMAA World Amateur MMA Championships started from 10th November in  Manama, Bahrain as part of BRAVE International Combat Week. On Day 2, three junior Indian fighters lost their respective bouts.

After a disappointing first day where four Indian fighters lost their fights, the second day was equally disappointing for the Indian contingent. Out of 11-fighter team, 7 of them have already bowed out of the tournament. To add further salt to the wounds, the entire junior contingent has bowed out of the IMMAF | WMMAA amateur championship.

Here’s the result of the Indian contingent on Day 2 in the round of 32:

Bout 1: Female Jr Lightweight 70.3 kg (155 lbs) Talshyn Zhumatayeva (Kazakhstan) def. Khushi Gohel (India) via TKO round 1.

Bout 2: Male Jr Strawweight 52.2 kg (115 lbs) Fariz Abdalov (Kazakhstan) def. Akash Paulkar (India) via TKO round 1. 

Bout 3: Male Jr Strawweight 52.2 kg (115 lbs) Yerulan Kabdulov (Kazakhstan) def. Arjun Pundir (India) via unanimous decision.

The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation’s 2019 Senior and Junior World Championship tournament is taking place at Khalifa Sports City and is being hosted by the Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation under the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
