Aaron Pico was supposedly on his way to a title shot. However, his sudden and shocking defeat at the hands of Henry Corrales via KO in the very first round changed the entire landscape of Bellator MMA’s featherweight title scene. Pico has been graceful and humble in defeat and has proclaimed that he will be back, just needs some time to recover.
Pico is surely one of the hottest prospects in the world of MMA right now. Here’s how he reflected on his loss:
I know I’m going to hear a lot of (expletive) on the internet, people saying I need to do this and do that, but I just go back and figure out what I need to do with my family, I’m not done. I’ll be back, and I’ve just got to take some time.
But Eddie Alvarez, how many times has he been knocked down in every fight? I see what he’s saying, but I don’t know. I wish I could give you a clear answer. I have to sit down with my family and figure out, do we take lesser opponents? OK, then give me lesser opponents. There’s going to be a hefty hospital bill, because I will really (expletive) hurt somebody bad.
