Aaron Pico talks title fight: ‘The time to fight me for Patricio is now

Bellator MMA’s Aaron Pico is currently one of the hottest MMA prospects around. Pico, who is a high level wrestler, currently holds a MMA record of 4-1 and is surging on his way towards the top of the Bellator’s featherweight mountain. He is now scheduled to face off against Henry Corrales at Bellator 214. It is quite likely that if Pico were to win this fight then would be the next in line for a title shot. Pico, who is still just 22 years old, is hoping to become a young champion and he feels that for the Bellator MMA featherweight champion Patricio Freire, the time to face Pico is right now before he gets evens better.

With a MMA record of 4-1, Pico sports some extremely dominant victories till now and has backed up all his banter and claims. It is quite likely that he will be awarded a title shot against Freire, if he were to be victorious in his next fight at Bellator 214. Here’s what he had to say:

Honestly, I think we’re in a very good spot for a title shot [with a win], I’m very young. Very, very young. Yeah, it would be a big step. But I feel I could really do it. Ultimately, it’s not my decision, though. But yeah, I think we’re both in a great position to fight for a title. I keep saying, the time to fight me for Patricio is now. I’m young, I’m still relatively new in my career. I would definitely take on the challenge, but if I were him I would try do it now. Give me two more years, it’s just more experience, more strength, more time in the cage. So if I were him, I’d definitely be doing it now.
