Only one man, according to UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Magomed Ankalaev, should challenge for his first title.

In UFC 313’s main event, Ankalaev won UFC gold for the first time in his professional mixed martial arts career. In the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, he triumphed over Alex Pereira. Pereira was successfully forced to fight backwards by Ankalaev, which was outside of “Poatan’s” comfort zone. The champion from Dagestan won by unanimous decision as a result.

Ankalaev feels that just one fighter deserves to compete for the next light heavyweight title, despite the fact that other title contenders are starting to emerge in the 205-pound class.

According to Magomed Ankalaev, Alex Pereira deserves an immediate title rematch

Magomed Ankalaev was watching the Carlos Ulberg vs. Jan Blachowicz co-main event at the UFC London. Even though Ulberg prevailed and is now more likely than ever to challenge for the light heavyweight title, Ankalaev took to X to express his opinion that Alex Pereira ought to be the next to reclaim his crown.

“Good win for Carlos but Alex is next. He deserve it more than anyone.”

Ankalaev also expressed his opinion that Pereira is superior to the other possible opponents.

“Alex different level than all these guys.”

According to Ankalaev, he has already agreed to a date for his first title defense and has no intention of enduring the full fight.

“I have a date and I accepted already, I hope my opponent will accept too. This time there will be no 5 rounds, I don’t get paid by the hour #BigANK”

Dana White has stated to press that he believes the rematch makes sense, even if the UFC has not officially confirmed Ankalaev vs. Pereira 2. The fight seems to be the obvious path for the 205-pound title picture, barring any unanticipated events, like an injury.
