It’s no secret that Carlos Prates, a UFC welterweight contender, likes to smoke cigarettes occasionally or frequently. The Brazilian is still hacking darts just days before the greatest battle of his life, which may surprise some fans.
Due in major part to recent wins against welterweight veterans Li Jingliang and Neil Magny, Prates is presently ranked No. 13 at welterweight. He will face No. 7-ranked opponent Ian Machado Garry this weekend in the main event of the UFC’s most recent visit to Kansas City. Although they will be tight, the victor of their bout is unlikely to be the next to compete for the welterweight belt. It’s safe to assume that the conflict has very high stakes. That hasn’t stopped Prates from having a few smokes.
Before the UFC Kansas City bout, Carlos Prates was spotted smoking a cigarette
Chris Gutierrez, a featherweight contender, discovered Prates sneaking a few puffs on Thursday night, just days before his fight against Machado Garry.
Watch the video below. Hint: In the clip, Prates is the one puffing on cigarettes.
John Castañeda will face “El Guapo” Gutierrez on Saturday’s UFC Kansas City program. From his hotel room, he caught sight of Carlos Prates.
It’s safe to say that a UFC fighter’s training routine does not typically include smoking cigarettes. In actuality, most people agree that cigarettes are extremely harmful to almost everyone. But thus far, Prates has found success with the habit. At least it hasn’t yet directly hampered him. During his training camps, the Brazilian is also known to occasionally indulge in adult refreshments, which refer to alcohol.
He is 4-0 in the Octagon despite these widely disapproved of behaviors, and he will be among the best in his category if he upsets Garry this weekend.
