It appears that Alex Pereira, despite to be making a jump up to light heavyweight, still has the Israel Adesanya trilogy in mind, as he recently called out his longtime rival for a third encounter in the Octagon.

Pereira and Adesanya locked horns for the second time (fourth overall considering their kickboxing past) at John Locher Credit: AP, where “The Last Stylebender” marked his first win over his longtime rival, and regaining the 185-pound title.

In the wake of the fight, there were calls from fans to make a third fight between the two, but Pereira stated that he’s now focused on moving up to 205 for his future endeavors in the Octagon. Adesanya, in addition, also turned down trilogy talks, saying that the sscore has been settled.

“I don’t keep score. I settle it, and now it’s settled,” said Adesanya following UFC 287. “I gave him a fast track to the belt. I could’ve said, ‘Naw, who’s he fought? He only fought one top five.’ But no. He did well. He fought some top guys. He beat (Sean) Strickland, and I was like, ‘Well, fine, There’s no one else.’ I was looking for that challenge. He beat me in kickboxing and I got the immediate rematch because of what I’ve done in the game. … I did the hard yard and I earned my f*cking rematch. Now he has to do the hard yard and earn it, but I don’t think he’s going to. Go cause problems at 205. He’s a motherf*cker to deal with, I’ll tell you that.”

Be real with your fans: Alex Pereira tells Adesanya

While the masses had accepted that there won’t be any Adesanya vs Pereira 3 happening, things took a different turn after Adesanya shared an edited photo of Pereira surrounded by chalk. And it was not too late before “Poatan” issued his response.

“In kick-boxing it’s impossible now to be better than me. In MMA it’s 1:1. Be real with your fans and let’s show the world who is better in MMA,” Pereira replied to Adesanya’s tweet.
