The untimely death of 33-year-old Russian MMA Fighter Alexander Pisarev at the age of 33 had already shocked the combat sports world, but what’s perhaps even more shocking is the reason for his untimely death.

Russian media unveiled last month that Alexander Pisarev, who was part of Moscow’s Tomahawk team had passed away at the age of 33, and the sad news was confirmed by his family shortly after.

Many were surprised to learn Pisarev’s passing, but the real shock came when the cause of death was revealed. It was revealed that he is suspected to have died of food poisoning from watermelon and could not make it, even though an ambulance arrived at his address quickly.

The medical team, however, was able to help the wife who had the same problem and she was rushed to the hospital with her life not in danger. Unfortunately, Pisarev was not lucky enough to survive and had already passed away at his residence that night.

His family announced that the Russian fighter had no previous health problems and that food poisoning was possibly the main cause of his death. The strangest thing about all of this is that they were both suspected of having food poisoning as after eating the fruit, both complained about having abdominal pain.

“I returned from a walk with the dog at about four o’clock and called my son to dinner,” Igor Vladimirovich, Pisarev’s father revealed. “In response, silence. I went into the room – Alexander and his wife were sleeping. I came closer – and it turned out that my son was no longer breathing. His wife was also taken away in an ambulance.” (h/t Euro Weekly)

Pisarev fought in competitions organized by RCC and Fight Nights. His last match was in February 2020, when he was beaten by Maxim Usouyan. The Russian, who had won multiple youth titles across the country, has fought a total of five mixed martial arts fights in his career, of which he has three wins and two losses.
