Reigning UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski is not really keen on remaining in the division anymore, and is aiming to make a move up, as the 145-pound king opines the division can’t keep him busy anymore.

I want that double champ status: Alexander Volkanovski

“The Great” produced another stunning performance in the highly anticipated trilogy fight against former champion Max Holloway in the co-main event of UFC 276 which took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada on 2nd July.

Having gone 3-0 against his rival “Blessed”, as well as remaining undefeated throughout his featherweight stint in the Octagon, Volkanovski believes the division has nothing more to offer him and believes a change in weight class needs to happen.

The Aussie has already been calling for a move up to Lightweight and achieve the double champ status during the buildup to UFC 276 and in the press conference that followed the event, Volkanovski reiterated his aspirations once again.

“I want to be in this Octagon as much as possible. I want to be busy. I don’t think this division can keep me busy by itself. I want to move up,” said Volkanovski, “Let me see what’s happening with (my hand). It gives me time to see what’s happening and maybe see what’s happening in my division. I want to be active, but if it’s not opponents, it’s maybe injuries that might slow me down a little bit.”

“But other than that, I need to stay active, and I want that double champ status,” the 33-year-old went on, “And like I said, I can stay active enough, and I’ve proved that. What is it, three fights in nine months? I just fought three months ago, not many champions are doing that.”

“I don’t think I can get a No. 1 contender that quick and keep me that busy, so give me another division,” he added.

Last month, Volkanovski said that a move up to lightweight will not be a big challenge for him and recently, revealed that his target at 155 is former champion Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira.
