In the aftermath of his shocking knockout loss to Ilia Topuria at UFC 298, former UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has been vocal about his desire for a rematch. The Spaniard Topuria, who became the first UFC champion fighting out of Spain, delivered a brutal right-hand stoppage that left Volkanovski stunned in the second round. This marked the second consecutive KO loss for the Australian star, following his infamous head-kick knockout by Islam Makhachev last October.

Volkanovski has been adamant about the rematch. Despite losing his title, he believes he deserves another shot. His championship reign included five successful defenses, including two against Max Holloway and a second bout against Makhachev on short notice. In a recent interview, Alexander Volkanovski opened up on how Topuria will see the ‘real Volkanovski’ if he fights again.
“You’re gonna see the same Volk that you’ve always seen next time I step in there. You’re not gonna see a timid Volk… The real Volkanovski [will turn up], I guarantee you that. And let’s see if Ilia can handle that… I want him to be tested against the best version of myself.”

The Real “Volk”
Volkanovski’s promise that the “real Volkanovski” will turn up in the rematch carries weight. As a seasoned fighter with an impressive record, he aims to reclaim his throne. Whether Topuria can handle the best version of Volkanovski remains to be seen.
But everything depends on Ilia Topuria whether he will agree to fight Alexander Volkanovski one more time or will go on to clear the division as he planned.
