Alexander Volkanovski gives fans a positive update on his health

Alexander Volkanovksi is coming off of a spectacular unanimous decision victory over Brazilian legend and former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro at UFC 237 last week.

However, after his fight at UFC 237, when he was leaving the hotel to go to the Airport he complained that he was feeling sick and he also had a sore foot. His situation worsened after landing in Chile for a layover flight to Australia. He was then immediately checked by the doctors present in the Airport and then admitted into the hospital in the capital Santiago.

Now he is being treated for a blood infection and remains hospitalised but his manager Rhys Dal Cin took to social media to give his fans an update about his health.

“@alexvolkanovski condition is stable, he is responding well to the treatment.

As a precaution, he will remain under supervision at the hospital and will be re-assessed in 48hrs to ensure the infection is completely under control before given any clearance to travel home.”

Alexander Volkanovski is currently riding on a seven-fight winning streak inside the UFC and is expected to fight the winner of Max Holloway vs Frankie Edgar.
