UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has reacted to the comments made by former featherweight and lightweight champion Conor Mcgregor. Alexander Volkanovski fought Brian Ortega at UFC 266 and defeated him in a very dominant fashion. He put on an amazing performance and won the fight via decision. He had few moments where he was in trouble but he somehow got out of those tough spots and secured a brilliant win for himself against the no.2 ranked fighter. Conor though wasn’t really impressed by his performance and he had few things to say to Alex after his fight. Conor made some tweets which he deleted later but just kept the one in which he congratulates Alex.

“Not a bad fight. Congrats shartsy.”

Alexander was quick to respond to Conor’s tweets. Speaking to reporters following UFC 266, Alex said that he felt Conrow as again drunk tweeting. He didn’t take those tweets seriously and just joked about them.

“I heard about (the tweets). Sounded like he was on the piss. Good for him, so am I, I will be too,” Volkanovski said. “(The tweets said) something about sharting or fighting. It didn’t really make sense. It’s Conor, man. Conor doing Conor things. I don’t know if he wants to come back down to 145lbs, obviously, that will never happen. That would have stung him a little bit (referring Jose Aldo and Max Holloway as the two greatest featherweights), especially while he’s on the piss, you know? Anyways, I’m gonna be on the piss, maybe you’ll see some weird f*cking tweets from me too. We’ll see what happens.”

Alex also shared his thought on how the fight and what was his game plan going into the fight. He also talked about Ortega’s toughness and the submission which Alexander barely escaped.

“I talked about getting the finish, and I wanted to get the finish, but at least it was a war, at least it was entertainment,” Volkanovski told the reporters at the post-fight conference. “Straight after, I was like ‘F*ck, I didn’t get the finish,’  you know what I mean? But then you come out and everyone’s just absolutely buzzin’.”

“It was deep, it was ‘Oh f*ck, I’m about to lose the belt’ deep,” Volkanovski said about the choke. “That was as deep as it can get, no sh*t. As deep as it could get. I remember I was making f*cking weird noises.”

“I thought I was going to break him,” Volkanovski said. “I thought he was broken after the third round, but the ref decided to give him a minute to ask him questions. He wasn’t answering them right, I was looking. … He couldn’t even see where he was going. I was like, ‘That’s it, it’s over.’ I go in there, start putting pressure, and he’s firing back just like he was like nothing happened. He’s tough, he’s durable, and credit to him.”
