UFC 235 has added another world title fight as UFC welterweight champion Tyron ‘The Chosen One’ Woodley will defend his title against another top contender in his division Kamaru ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ Usman at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on 2nd March.
The news was broken by Ariel Helwani of ESPN and according to him, the UFC was unhappy with Colby Covington not fighting Tyron Woodley.
He said, “In the end, while Colby Covington was ready to go for 235, UFC chose to go with Usman because his stock rose mightily in their eyes after the RDA win + his subsequent willingness to fight anyone on short notice in January despite being injured. Covington held out and it cost him“.
Even Usman’s manager Ali Abdelaziz had hinted that a title fight between Usman and Woodley was a done deal.

Ali couldn’t stop praising UFC president Dana White for giving Kamaru Usman a title shot for his willingness to fight anybody at any time.
Say whatever the fuck you want about @danawhite the man always keep his word to me he always comes thru and he came thru for @USMAN84kg not because he likes Usman but because he deserves it. Young fighters take a note, when you willing to fight, you get opportunities @ufc

However, this didn’t please Dustin Poirier who fired back saying that he has been working hard and had been willing to fight anybody, but hasn’t got a shot at UFC championship.
I been busting these guys up since 2010 in this organization never missed weight never said no to a fight, wheres my shot at Gold??? @AliAbdelaziz00 @danawhite @ufc
