Women’s UFC bantamweight and featherweight champion Amanda Nunes to all set to defend her bantamweight title against Julianna Pena at UFC 265 scheduled to take place on August 7.

The news was first released by Brett Okamoto of ESPN.

The Lioness will make her return to the bantamweight division in August. Per Dana White (@danawhite), Amanda Nunes (@Amanda_Leoa) will defend her 135-pound title against Julianna Peña (@VenezuelanVixen) at UFC 265.” Okamoto tweeted.

This was always Dana White’s plan after Amanda Nunes defeated Megan Anderson at UFC 259.

Right now, alright, I’ll give you a little something that we’re talking about right now. So Julianna Pena has been driving me f*cking bananas, okay? Will not stop terrorizing me that she deserves this fight,” White said to TMZ Sports back in March. “‘Amanda Nunes this, Amanda Nunes that, Amanda’s ducking her, Amanda doesn’t want her because the style doesn’t match up well for Amanda.’ So I’m thinking about doing Pena and Nunes.”

Pena, 31, most recently competed at UFC 257 in January when she defeated former UFC title challenger Sara McMann by third-round submission. The win returned Pena into the win column after an October loss to Germaine de Randamie.
