The first ever UFC female double champion Amanda Nunes recently revealed in a backstage interview at UFC Fight Night Fortaleza that her family (especially her mother) wanted her to retire after she defeated the dominant UFC Featherweight Cris Cyborg to earn her second championship belt at UFC 232 in Inglewood, California.

Amanda also that along with the thoughts of retirement she is also interested in Holly ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ Holm, who is one of the only former champion that she hasn’t faced in the Octagon. Amanda also says that a win over Holm would certify that she had done everything that she could in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and she would be satisfied with retirement after the win. She also added that she was a bit ‘tired’ of all the big fights coming her way and she would like a little break at least to figure out things with her family and her fiancee, fellow UFC fighter Nina Ansaroff’s career.

Will we see the crowning of the first ‘Champ Champ Champ’?

Asked about going down to the flyweight division and challenging Valentina Shevchenko for her belt in a bid to be the first ever triple champion, Amanda said that she would need a little bit of time for that. Cutting down a weight class would be harder than just moving up according to her. She would ideally want to make weight in gym as well as spar to see how she feels and then fight against Valentina, although that possibility seems to appeal to Nunes very much.

It remains to be seen what course of action Nunes decides to challenge Valentina in her very next fight or she would decide to go on a sabbatical and later try to become a ‘Champ Champ Champ’ in the UFC.
