Former UFC bantamweight champion and the current UFC featherweight champion Amanda Nunes has recently parted ways with her old team. She left the American Top Team and has decided to start her new gym. The concept of changing training camps is not new in the MMA world but ATT is a successful team and they were the primary factor because of which Amanda Nunes was able to become the GOAT of women’s MMA. But now to everyone’s surprise she suddenly decided to separate from her gym and start a new training facility for herself. Now after she lost her bantamweight title to Julianna Pena she has decided to start from scratch in her new gym.
At UFC 269 the then two-division champion, Amanda Nunes was set to make her bantamweight title defense against Julianna Pena. The fight was going great for Nunes in the first round as she dominated Pena on the feet and the ground. But she started to fade away in the second round. In the third round of the fight, Pena started to take charge of all the exchanges and then took Nunes down and submitted her via rear-naked choke to become the new bantamweight champion. Just a few days after losing her bantamweight title, it was revealed that Nunes had left the ATT.

Amanda Nunes reveals why she left ATT
Amanda Nunes and Julianna Pena are now all set to coach the 30th season of ultimate fighter and then they’ll be squaring off against each other for the second time as Pena will defend her bantamweight title against Nunes.
While talking to ESPN after the announcement of TUF 30, Amanda Nunes flashed light on her reason to leave the ATT.
“You know like I said, after all this done, I wanna be a coach. So, when I said I wanna open a gym, I didn’t say I’m gonna open a public gym. I wanna open a private space. If I have to start over, I wanna do some things the way I wanna do. So, it’s gonna be something that I wanna do.”
After losing her belt at UFC 269 Nunes had given her honest reaction to her loss and had accepted the rematch as Pena was ready for the second fight.
“You guys think I’m going to go out unbalanced,” Nunes wrote on Instagram. “I undoubtedly accept the rematch. Give me a little time to get my shit together and I will be back better than ever.”
