Robbie Lawler, a former UFC welterweight champion, isn’t ruling out a BKFC bout with Mike Perry.
In July 2023, “Ruthless” famously retired after defeating Niko Price via first-round knockout. The former champion may end up fighting again, but he got the happy ending that many boxers hope for. Mike Perry challenged Robbie Lawler to a brawl in the BKFC ring earlier this year. Since losing to Jake Paul via knockout in the boxing ring last July, “Platinum” has not been active.
Although many first disregarded the bout, David Feldman, the founder of BKFC, is determined to see Robbie Lawler vs. Mike Perry happen. The promoter claimed that “Ruthless” is eager to fight once more when he appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show earlier this year. Furthermore, since Lawler is still bound by his contract with Dana White, the only thing preventing the possible bare-knuckle fight is the UFC’s approval.
“We’re working on it, we’re working on it.” BKFC founder David Feldman stated when asked about Mike Perry vs. Robbie Lawler in January. “Yeah, [Robbie wants to do it]. We’re working out a deal with the UFC. That’s a sick fight right? I’ll know [if it’s going to happen] in two weeks. If it doesn’t happen then, it will be someone else [against Perry] then possibly him.”

But “Ruthless” doesn’t sound as convinced about the fight as Feldman claimed. Robbie Lawler was asked if he would fight again during the UFC 313 post-fight press conference on Saturday night. The former UFC champion said to “never say never” when discussing a possible comeback, although he did not specifically reference Mike Perry or BKFC.
“It’s hung up now, but never say never,”Robbie Lawler said at UFC 313 over the weekend. “I’m not closing any doors, but if they look like they’re closed… There’s always opportunities out there. There’s just ‘all feel’, I guess, what I feel like doing.” (h/t Sports Illustrated FanNation)
Robbie Lawler will be busy in June even if he doesn’t fight again. It was revealed over the weekend that Ruthless, a member of the “Modern Wing,” will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame this summer. Due to his well-known battle with Rory MacDonald at UFC 189 in 2015, Lawler was already admitted into the “Fight Wing” in 2023.
