Regarding his former UFC opponent Nick Diaz, Jason “Mayhem” Miller has given a positive update.
The former WEC and Strikeforce champion had a difficult 2024. Last summer in Abu Dhabi, Nick Diaz was infamously scheduled to complete a three-year layoff against Vicente Luque. The fight was rescheduled for UFC 310 in December when the welterweight withdrew for unspecified reasons. Unfortunately, the combat was called off once more. But this cancellation was much more concerning.
Some weeks prior to the event, videos of Nick Diaz surfaced that raised concerns. In one video, the former UFC championship contender was seen burning grass while shirtless on the side of the road. Diaz was removed from his contest against Luque in favor of Themba Gorimbo, although he never commented on the footage. In the end, “The Silent Assassin” won via submission in the first round in December.
Nick Diaz hasn’t said anything about that incident in months. Jason “Mayhem” Miller, a former adversary, has some positive news regarding the former UFC star, though. Earlier this week, the former “Bully Beatdown” host discussed his past conflict with Diaz on The Ariel Helwani Show. Last year, the two put their infamous feud from the late 2000s behind them. Miller reached out and offered his assistance after the Diaz video referenced above went viral.
Jason “Mayhem” Miller disclosed during the conversation that he was contacted by someone on Nick Diaz’s squad. The 44-year-old stated that his former opponent is now in a lot better place, even though he doesn’t want to discuss the UFC welterweight’s problems too much.
“Somebody [from Nick Diaz’s camp] gave me a note that [said]: ‘Hey, look, he’s getting it together’,” Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller told Ariel Helwani earlier this week. “It’s very sensitive to talk about this guy’s journey because I have a lot of empathy for it. Because it’s easy, like I said, to fall into this darkness. People do not understand how, you know, if you’re a C-level celebrity, it’s super easy.” (h/t TalkSport)
He continued, “A lot of people will glob on you and drag you in this direction, that direction. And it’s super easy to fall into, let alone huge, superstar champions like Nick Diaz… So it’s hard for me to come off without sounding negative about these guys’ experience right now. But right now, look, we see that it’s not going perfect. And both camps have told me that they’re on the right path to get back together.”
What do you make of these comments from former UFC fighter Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller? Do you think Nick Diaz will fight again?
