Former UFC fighters Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz are set to collide but not in an MMA match, instead, they will both face each other in the Triller Boxing match on September 11.

According to the latest reports former UFC middleweight champion and MMA legend, Anderson Silva will be facing fellow UFC legend, former UFC lightweight champion Tito Ortiz. The duo has never passed each other’s path in the octagon. Now the pair will for the first time face each other in a boxing ring under Triller’s banner. The weight limit for the fight is set at 195 pounds and it will take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles and airs on pay-per-view. The professional bout is slated for eight rounds and is to be contested in 10-ounce gloves. The fight was first reported by MMA Fighting.

The Fight between Silva and Ortiz is part of the undercard for the Triller Fight Club event headlined by boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya vs. former UFC champion Vitor Belfort.

Former UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva fought in a boxing match recently against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Silva defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. via split decision at Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico. In November 2020, the UFC announced that they had released Silva from his UFC contract, which would allow him to negotiate with other promotions. Silva stated that he wants to explore the boxing world and wants to participate in boxing matches actively.

Anderson Silva is regarded as one of the greatest fighters to ever compete in MMA. The Brazil local held the UFC middleweight title for seven years, the longest reign in promotion history. Anderson owns the longest winning streak in UFC history that is 16 and the most finishes in UFC title fights (9).

On the other hand, his new boxing opponent has been actively involved in politics. In 2020, Ortiz ran for a city council seat in his hometown of Huntington Beach, intending to eventually become the mayor. In November 2020, Ortiz was elected as one of the winners of the open seats. In December 2020, Ortiz was sworn in as Mayor Pro Term of Huntington Beach. Recently Ortiz resigned from the city council in June 2021, after serving less than six months in office.

His last Pro fight was against former WWE Champion and Combate Americas President Alberto El Patrón in a 210-pound Catchweight bout at Combate Americas event in Hidalgo, Texas. Ortiz won the fight via rear-naked choke submission in the first round. Then it was announced that the result had been temporarily overturned to a no-decision by the Texas State Athletic Commission, it was declared that Ortiz consumed muscle relaxers, so the issue had been resolved and the result was turned back to a win for Ortiz.
