Anderson Silva: I’m fighting Jared Cannonier for the love of the sport!

Jared Cannonier is all set to fight Brazilian Mixed Martial Arts legend Anderson Silva at the Jeunesse Arena at UFC 237 which will take place on May 11 in the city of Rio de Janeiro.

At 44 year old and fighting Jared Cannonier isn’t going to be easy as he is coming off of a TKO victory against David Branch at UFC 230. On the other hand, Anderson Silva lost his last fight to current UFC interim middleweight champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 234. Silva is winless in more than two years and his last victory came against Derek Brunson at UFC 208.

But Anderson Silva explained why he took this fight.

I’m continuing to do my best and work hard for my company and my sport,” Silva told in an interview to MMAJunkie.“That’s the challenge for my mind and my body and my team.

You become older, you watch your life at a different angle, and you try to use the old experience to help you continue,” Silva said. “I’ve tried to make every day better and continue in the sport because it’s an amazing and very interesting sport.”

He also said that he wants to perform to the best of his ability inside the Octagon.

I think I don’t need to prove anything for anybody in this sport,” Silva said. “I tried to make everything special for a long time. Now, I just continue to do my best and put my heart inside the cage, and do a special show for my fans.” (H/T- MMA Junkie)
