Even though it has been nearly four years, the fierce rivalry between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor and its conclusion at UFC 229 remains a hot topic in the combat sports sphere.

Dubbed by Dana White as “the biggest in UFC history”, Khabib vs McGregor did not only blew up because of the contest between two of the greatest fighters of all time, but also the huge drama that preceded and succeeded UFC 229, and only added fuel to the fire between the two MMA icons.

Many fans opine that it was a humbling experience for “The Notorious” who was submitted by “The Eagle” in the fourth round. Marking his first lightweight title defense, Khabib went onto defend his belt two more times before announcing his retirement in 2020, while McGregor has won only once since then.

Train and Allah. That’s it. How the f*** you gonna beat that guy: Andrew Tate

There have been many schools of thought on why Khabib was able to defeat McGregor, and according to former kickboxer and controversial internet personality Andrew Tate, Khabib’s success comes down to him being a devout Muslim and his dedication to the fight game, contrary to what McGregor is.

“To be good at fighting. You must be a dork. When I say be a dork, it means you must be all in the world you care about. You cannot care about p*ssy, you could not care even about money. And Conor McGregor, cares about other stuff, cares about showing off. He cares about being famous. He cares about girls, cares about parties,” Tate said after UFC 229.

“And this Khabib guy, I knew Khabib was gonna win. Khabib is a strict Muslim. I believe in the power of Allah. Train Allah. Train Allah. Train Allah. There’s nothing else to his life. Do you want to go spend millions of dollars? No. You want to go to the club? No. Do you want girls? No. Train and Allah. That’s it. How the f*** you gonna beat that guy? He’s the best,” Tate added.
