UFC 256: Angela Hill positive for COVID-19, out of Tecia Torres bout

The UFC 256 preliminary card has taken a hit, as Angela Hill tested positive for COVID-19. The women’s strawweight announced the positive result on her Instagram page. Hill (12-9 MMA, 6-9 UFC) announced on Sunday that she’s out of her scheduled strawweight fight with Torres (11-5 MMA, 7-5 UFC) on Saturday at UFC 256 after testing positive for COVID-19.

According to Hill, she took all the necessary precautions in training camp. She still tested positive and won’t be fighting at UFC Apex in Las Vegas

Angela in her tweet wrote Tested positive for Covid and won’t be fighting next week. Tried to stay as safe as possible during fight camp but with MMA training, there’s virtually no social distancing. Was looking forward to running it back, maybe shortly.” #CovidFuckingUpEveryonesSeason #UFC256

Claudia Gadelha not interested in Angela Hill rematch

After falling short on back-to-back split decision losses to Claudia Gadelha and Michelle Waterson earlier this year, Hill (12-9) was looking to get back to winning ways at UFC 256. Prior to these setbacks, “Overkill” strung together three straight wins over Loma Lookboonmee, Hannah Cifers, and Ariane Carnelossi.

Tecia Torres | UFC

Torres (11-5) most recently snapped her four-fight losing skid with a decision over Brianna Van Buren in June. There is currently no word on whether the UFC is looking for a replacement opponent for Torres at UFC 256.

UFC 256 is scheduled to go down on Dec. 12 inside the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. A flyweight title fight between Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno will serve as the main event. As for the UFC 256 main event between Figueiredo and Moreno, that matchup came to be just two weeks ago after both flyweights captured wins at UFC 255. Figueiredo will be making the fastest title turnaround in UFC history as he attempts to score his second-straight flyweight title defense. Also on the card: Tony Ferguson vs. Charles Oliveira, Junior Dos Santos vs. Ciryl Gane, and Kevin Holland vs. Ronaldo Souza.

After several fights falling UFC has still managed to put an amazing card. Many fights that were expected to take place on this night were scrapped for their respective reasons.

The latest UFC 256 lineup now includes:

  • Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno
  • Tony Ferguson vs. Charles Oliveira
  • Rafael Fiziev vs. Renato Moicano
