UFC: Anthony Pettis rumoured to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223

The UFC 223 fight card has surely had its fair share ups and downs. The main-event for the event has already changed twice in the past one week. From one UFC champion to another, both are now out of the fight. The UFC matchmakers are now looking for another fighter to replace Max “Blessed” Holloway against Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov. MMA India has been covering UFC 223 and our sources on the ground have revealed that former UFC lightweight champion, Anthony Pettis will be stepping up to fight Khabib in the main-event of UFC 223.

“Showtime” Pettis was previously scheduled to fight Michael Chiesa at UFC 223. However, the fight was called off after Chiesa’s face was cut due to the actions of Conor McGregor and his accomplices.

Our man on the ground, Steven Ricciardi has reported that Pettis is rumoured to be the top replacement being considered to fight “The Eagle”. It should be noted that there is a contingency involved in a potential fight between Khabib and Pettis, i.e. Pettis should be able to make weight to be eligible for the title.

Ricciardi has also reported that some other fighters who also being considered are Al Iaquinta and Brian Ortega. However, Pettis is currently the front-runner in this race to secure the fight.
