UFC 235 is shaping up to be one of the most stacked cards in the history of the sport. The main event will feature a fairly quick turnaround for newly crowned light heavyweight champion Jon ‘Bones’ Jones, who will defend his title against #3 ranked Anthony ‘Lionheart’ Smith.
The news certainly raised some eyebrows amongst the MMA community as Jones is always associated with arch rival Daniel Cormier, who happens to be the UFC heavyweight champion now. One of the shocked entities was former UFC middleweight champion and Cormier’s training partner Luke Rockhold.
Rockhold, who also plans to compete at light heavyweight, claimed Jones is trying to manipulate Cormier. Rockhold believes Jones does not want to fight Cormier at heavyweight as Cormier can be potentially more dangerous at heavyweight. Rockhold further added that Jones should ‘stop picking off guys like Anthony Smith and fight DC at heavyweight.’
That obviously didn’t go well with Smith who has opened as a 13-1 underdog against Jones. Speaking with Luke Thomas, Smith had some words for Rockhold. (via Twitter):

Smith started off saying that he does not even know Rockhold. Barring the time when they fought on a common card, Smith claimed that he never even shook Rockhold’s hand. Smith then pointed out to the fact that Rockhold is coming off of a loss where Yoel Romero ‘decapitated’ him and has been ‘sitting around on the sidelines limping around’. Smith concluded saying Rockhold is the most ‘arrogant’ fighter he ever came across.
