Anthony Smith has been on a roll lately, as he continued his winning streak by submitting Volkan Oezdemir in the third round. Coming into the UFC Moncton fight, The 30-year-old Texan, who fights out of Omaha was coming off with back-to-back stoppages against former champions Rashad Evans and Shogun Rua.

However, what’s even more interesting is the fact that Smith had mystically predicted his of Victory over Volkan about a week ago. Oezdemir was arguably leading the fight on the scorecards before the third round began and was seemingly cruising to a dominant yet competitive victory. However, Smith had some plans, as the Swede began to tire and slow down, Smith sensed his opportunity and went for the finish.

Anthony Smith recently appeared on The MMA Hour hosted by Luke Thomas where he said that “During the choke hold, we both fell on the wrong side. So I probably spent the first 20 seconds of that trying to just muscle it in there and I just got it under his chin for just a second and he [Oezdemir] panicked and I was able to slide my arm in once he lifted his chin and I knew he had a hard time breathing, that why I tried to keep him as flat on his back as I could, because I knew all the blood running down his throat cos I could hear it gurgle.’

Anthony Smith is hoping to get a title shot next.
