Ariel Helwani, renowned mixed martial arts journalist, has just dropped a bombshell- that Bellator MMA could soon get a change in ownership, claiming that there are ‘whispers’ that the promotion might be on the market.

“What becomes of Bellator?” Ariel Helwani might have an answer

Founded by Bjorn Rebney in 2008, Bellator is one of the top MMA promotions and had its first event in 2009. The promotion is currently owned by Paramount Global, and former MMA fighter Scott Coker is its president.

The roster features top names such as Vadim Nemkov, Kyoji Horiguchi, Yoel Romero, Yaroslav Amosov, Patrício Pitbull, Cris Cyborg, A. J. McKee, Michael Page, Douglas Lima, Usman Nurmagomedov, Gegard Mousasi, and Sergio Pettis, while Eddie Alvarez, Michael Chandler, Ben Askren, Anthony Johnson, Rory MacDonald, and Fedor Emelianenko have also been part of it.

Bellator had a successful run last year, featuring the Pitbull vs McKee rematch, as well as the Bellator Bantamweight World Grand Prix. All that being said, there are rumors that the promotion could soon have a change in its top hierarchy, and Helwani comes forward to drop hint about that.

On a recent The MMA Hour segment, Helwani suggested that the promotion might soon be up for sale. “What becomes of Bellator? There are whispers, I’ll just say, that they’re on the market,” said Helwani.

In case Bellator undergoes a change in ownership, the promotion might get a re-branding, and to keep in pace with the top dog UFC, as well as ONE and the rising PFL, Bellator could hugely make the best of the ownership change.
