Jon Jones returned to face his bitter rival Daniel ‘DC’ Cormier for the UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 214. Jones won the fight but was later stripped out the title and his victory was overturned into a no contest due to Jones testing positive for certain anabloic steroids. It wasn’t the first time Jones had tested positive, and his career was seemingly in a quagmire. While many believed that Jones will be on the receiving end of a harsh sentence from the USADA, that has certainly not been the case. On September 18, USADA announced that Jones will receive a 15-month suspension from his retroactive date of July 28, 2017. Thus, making him eligible to compete after October 28, 2018.
USADA’s decision has been severely criticised by many fans, pundits and even fighters alike. Arjan Bhullar, the Indo-Canadian UFC heavyweight, who is also Cormier’s close friend and teammate recently took to Twitter to criticise USADA’s decision and like Nate Diaz claimed that “everyone is on steroids”.
Here’s what he had to say:
They’re all on steroids. How do you deter a repeat drug user? Dont test him when suspended. Dont give him the 4yr or 2yr suspensions. Instead gift him a 15month deal expiring a week before one of the biggest shows in
