Arjan Singh Bhullar made his ONE Championship debut against Mauro Cerilli by defeating him via unanimous decision at ONE Championship: Century card which is taking place in Japan and is the promotion’s 100th event.
The opening round started with Mauro Cerilli pressuring Arjan Bhullar. He chased Bhullar throughout the cage landing a leg kick and following up with a punch. Bhullar then went for the single-leg takedown twice but failed in both his attempts. Cerilli then followed up with his punches which stumbled Bhullar momentarily. The Italian got the better of Bhullar in the first round.
The second round was similar to the first round. Although Bhullar did manage to dodge the Italian’s kicks, Bhullar then followed up with a single leg takedown but somehow the Italian escaped the takedown attempt again. In the middle of the second round, however, Cerilli poked Bhullar and the referee had to halt the fight for a few seconds. When the action resumed, Arjan landed an overhand right, but also ate a punch back from Cerilli. The Italian was bleeding from Bhullar’s punches.
The third round, however, was a much better round for the Indian who applied some pressure early into the round and landed a clean uppercut which was his best punch in the fight. Although Cerilli tried a spinning back fist, it failed to land on Bhullar. Arjan then again goes for the single-leg takedown but fails to land anything significant as both fighters were then held in a clinch. Both fighters traded some wild punches at the end of the round.
Bhullar signed with ONE championship a few months ago after a 3-1 run in the Ultimate fighting championship. With this win, the Indi-Canadian is riding on a three-fight winning streak.
