A competitor who is prepared to usher in a new era appears just when a boxer appears to be unbeatable. Kana Morimoto, a renowned Japanese striker, wants to accomplish it at ONE 172: Takeru vs. Rodtang.
On Sunday, March 23 at Japan’s Saitama Super Arena, “Krusher Queen” will take on “The Queen,” the current ONE Atomweight Kickboxing World Champion.
Kana is a skilled striker in her own right, and when she faces the Thai king, she hopes to make kickboxing history.
Since 2017, Phetjeeja has not lost a competition. She has also gone undefeated in her last six ONE promotional appearances. However, with 11 knockouts under her belt, Kana thinks Phetjeeja will be overwhelmed by her one-punch power.
“This is a huge opportunity, and I will win the ONE Championship belt in Japan. I truly believe I’m the only one in the world who can beat Phetjeeja, so I have to win,” Kana said.
“Of course, the stronger my opponent, the higher my motivation. I think Phetjeeja is a well-rounded athlete who can do everything, but I believe my knockout power in a single strike is superior to hers.”
At ONE 172, Kana hopes to represent the top female combat sports athletes
When Kana Morimoto fights the ONE Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing World Champion Phetjeeja at ONE 172: Takeru vs. Rodtang, which pits Japan against the world, she wishes to represent her nation with pride.
Kana is excited to deliver her country a ONE World Champion at the massive event, which has been termed “Japan versus the world.” She also wants to demonstrate why she is worthy of performing on stage alongside the world’s top boxers.
“I’m also the only female Japanese athlete in the event, which makes it even more special for me,” Kana said.
“I believe this is a great opportunity to showcase Japanese female athletes to the world, and I feel a strong responsibility to demonstrate the strength of Japanese martial artists on this stage.”
