When they square off at ONE Fight Night 31: Kongthoranee vs. Nong-O II, flyweight Muay Thai fighter Sean Climaco hopes to deliver a severe lesson to up-and-coming talent Akif Guluzada.

On Friday, May 2, the fighters square off inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, in flyweight Muay Thai combat that is sure to be remembered for a very long time.

ONE Fight Night 31 is Guluzada’s first appearance on the main roster. He earned a US$100,000 contract and established himself as a force to be reckoned with after graduating from the ONE Friday Fights series with two spectacular knockouts in three bouts.

Climaco, however, will not adopt the blitzy manner of the kid. The Filipino-American thinks Guluzada will make him pay a heavy price if he rushes in.

“I just feel like he’s going to run into something he doesn’t see coming. He’ll dart in, and I’ll catch him,” he said.

“So I’m not necessarily going to say I’m going to be looking for it, but it will present itself when it’s there. And, of course, I’m going to go for the finish still.”

Sean Climaco thinks that overcoming Akif Guluzada will be greatly aided by his maturity

Even though Sean Climaco hasn’t been in the ring as long as Akif Guluzada, he thinks that his age and experience will help him at ONE Fight Night 31: Kongthoranee vs. Nong-O II.

He recognizes a lot of himself in his 19-year-old adversary. However, Climaco is now more mature, resilient, and composed.

He demonstrated that in three ONE Championship appearances. When the bell sounds, he anticipates exhibiting that maturity gap.

“I’m at this stage of my career now, I feel like guys who are young and hungry that come guns blazing — I’m more like the patient fighter. Because back then, I used to be that type of fighter that always wants to go forward and go guns blazing,” Climaco said.

“So I feel like this is a step up for him to be facing a guy in his prime and more of a mature fighter.”
