It didn’t take ONE Championship’s Aung La N Sang long to find his next opponent after he finished his most latest one.
Only the second fighter in the history of the organisation to be a double champ, Sang successfully defended his middleweight belt. He defeated Ken Hasegawa in the second round via a TKO at ONE: A NEW ERA. This was Sang’s third consecutive title defence.
As Sang spoke about his fight he was met by fellow heavyweight champ Brandon Vera. What followed was the smoothest and nicest of post fight call outs that you will ever see.

“Mr. Aung La, congratulations on your win tonight. You’re a man among men,” said Vera. “I would like to ask, if we are both healthy and we’re both in shape [and] we both agree, could you and I meet here in Japan in October to challenge you for the light heavyweight belt, sir.”
Sang humbly accepted the challenge while also praising Vera as a fighter. He also made sure that the organisation’s CEO Chatri Sityodtong, who was present alongside in the ring, was up up for the fight.
“You know, I’ve always been a big fan of Brandon Vera and it would be an honor for me to fight Brandon Vera on October. Mr. Chatri, what do you say?”
Sityodtong, as expected, didn’t provide any speed bumps and accepted the fight happily.
“Let’s get it on!” exclaimed Sityodtong.
Although, Vera is the inaugural ONE FC heavyweight champion, he has also competed professionally as a light heavyweight. During his lightweight stint in the UFC, Vera won four of his fights and dropped an equal number, while also including a no contest. As for Sang, this will be the first time he defends his light heavyweight title since winning it in 2018 against Alexandre Machado at ONE FC: Quest for Gold.
