UFC 296 saw fan favorite Leon Edwards beat Colby Covington via a unanimous decision. The fight was particularly not an exciting bout since Leon went in cautious, being the champ, but Colby’s performance, being the challenger, has been deemed as unconvincing by the most of the MMA community.

Luke Thomas posted a video of Jones on X (formerly Twitter). In the video, Aussie fighter Craig Jones had a lot to say about Colby and the mentality of US audience. He said, “We’re going to start with basically a valuable lesson Colby Covington taught us about America and that is, you can say anything you want. You could walk out, say I hate gay people, I hate women, I think the homeless people should die as long as you follow with I support first responders, I support the troops and God bless America. And the whole crowd will cheer.”
He added, “America is basically a sports team, but a sports team in the Special Olympics.” As per the comments, Craig Jones seems critical of the views and mentality of the fans and how Colby used it to gain support after a forgettable performance.
Colby hails former president Donald Trump
Amidst a crowd of unwavering boos for a forgettable performance, Colby used his time on the mic to praise the first responders and express his support for the troops and his support for Donald Trump and the elections. The boos changed for cheers as soon as Colby appreciated the country’s military. He also appreciated the UFC and Dana White before going on to cuss the crowd.
Colby Covington took pot shot’s at Leon Edwards’s father
Prior to the fight, Colby involved Leon’s late father into the conversation and Leon responded with throwing the mic towards him. The conference was heated and many MMA fans and fighters were alike in believing that Colby went a bit too far with his remarks.
The fight went the distance but it was particularly not one according to Colby’s plans. Leon has control for most of the fight, arguably winning the first 4 of the 5 rounds. Post the fight, Leon handled the situation calmly, he called out Colby for using his father’s murder as entertainment and went on to address Colby as “a great competitor but a dirty human being.”
