Before his comeback bout this weekend, UFC star Kamaru Usman has provided an honest evaluation of his fitness.
As is well known, Kamaru Usman, a former UFC welterweight champion, is among the greatest fighters to have ever weighed 170 pounds. He defeated numerous well-known opponents during his illustrious journey for the title. Having said that, he is currently on a losing streak of three fights and is eager to return back to winning ways.
He will attempt to accomplish that on Saturday night when he faces Joaquin Buckley in the main event of UFC Atlanta. Despite being the underdog in many eyes, Usman is eager to show that he can still compete with the best in the welterweight class.
It will be challenging for him to do so, of course, given his age of 38. Usman talked candidly about his health and his feelings during training camp in a recent interview.
Usman discusses his health candidly
“I mean, going through a training camp definitely makes you feel like you’re not healthy.
“I’ll tell you that. Getting punched and beaten up by training partners like Justin, Archie, and some of these guys definitely makes you feel otherwise.
“But I’m just blessed for the opportunity to be back. I’m blessed to have another chance to step in, and I’m blessed not just to represent myself and my family, but also my instructors, my coaches, my training partners.
“So yeah, it’s a wonderful feeling to be back.”
