Bellator: Despite showing sportsmanship after the fight, Ricky Bandejas believes James Gallagher is ‘still a d**k’

Bellator 204 featured a heavy upset as per the odds as debutant Ricky Bandejas (climbed to 11-1) smashed highly hyped James Gallagher (fell to 7-1) via first round TKO.

As per odds, not a lot of people had Bandejas winning. Bandejas however a former champion in regional circuit, had other plans. Gallagher, a training partner of double champ Conor McGregor, seemed to have picked up a page of his book. Gallagher started talking trash leading upto the fight and had a heated staredown with Bandejas a minute before the fight started. However after a minute, Gallagher was handed his first loss courtesy of a ‘sweet chin music’ style side kick followed with punches.

“I’m very happy with my performance. I started off slow the first minute but picked up and knocked him out. … It’s a dream come true. To beat somebody like him who has a huge following, it puts my name on the map.”

Gallagher did showed some signs of sportsmanship however took to Twitter saying he just ‘got caught’ and that Bandejas caught him ‘lucky’. He addressed the tweet in an interview with MMAjunkie.

“That was nice of him, but my buddy just told me he said he, ‘Got caught,’ which is a crock of (expletive),” Bandejas said. “I thought it was a nice gesture, but he’s just still a (expletive).”
