Conor McGregor’s Jiu-Jitsu coach Dillon Danis’ MMA debut is all set to take place at Bellator 198, headlined by a Heavyweight Grand Prix bout between Fedor Emelianenko and Frank Mir.

As reported by The Mac Life, the opponent has been announced as Kyle Walker, who has a 2-4 record. The bout is scheduled to take place at the catchweight of 175 pounds.

Dillon Danis shot to fame after coming on board with Conor McGregor’s camp to shore up his Jiu Jitsu, following his UFC 196 loss via submission to Nate Diaz.

However, Danis started to manufacture headlines of his own when he channelled his inner Conor McGregor and began talking a big game on social media – something that did not go down too well with his famed Jiu-Jitsu master, Marcelo Garcia.

Soon a rift started brewing between them and Danis was banished from the gym.

However, he did find another home at John Kavanagh’s Straight Blast Gym, and has been training out of the Dublin based setup in the 5 weeks leading up to the fight.

Danis had signed a deal with Bellator a year back and has been participating in only Jiu-Jitsu tournaments in the lead up to the fight.

It will be intriguing to see if Conor McGregor or Artem Lobov’s fighting style has rubbed off on Danis. At the very least, all his pre-fight talk demands some level of proficiency to be displayed when he finally takes to the MMA cage.

Luckily for him, his opponent Kyle Walker is coming off 3 straight losses with 2 of those losses coming by way of submission.

That should, ideally, play into the hands of Danis, who is a world class Jiu-Jitsu practitioner.

Will you watch Dillon Danis compete in his first ever MMA fight at Bellator 198? And how do you think he will do?
