Gegard Mousasi has big plans for his run in Bellator.
After signing on with the promotion from the UFC in 2017, Mousasi won a shot at the Bellator Middleweight Championship with a hard-fought victory over Alexander Shlemenko at Bellator 185.

He is currently scheduled to fight Champion Rafael Carvalho at Bellator 200.
However, Mousasi already has one eye on who’s next for him after the event – Rory Macdonald.
Macdonald, who took to Twitter and criticized Mousasi’s performance against Shlemenko at Bellator 185, is yet another top UFC fighter turned Bellator addition.
But Mousasi feels no piety towards him for that and, in fact, is completely open to a super fight with the Bellator Welterweight Champion after his Bellator 200 fight.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani in the MMA Hour, Mousasi had this to say on the matter:
He[Rory Macdonald] didn’t have a great performance either[against Douglas Lima], but I’m not going to go on Twitter and say stupid sh*t,
After this fight, hopefully we can get it done and he can come and show his skills. But he will come up short. His style is perfect for me, he moves forward — he’ll get his ass kicked, probably.
Mousasi was the number 4 ranked Middleweight in the world when he left the UFC to join the Scott Coker led promotion, citing the lack of a promotional push and – subsequently – satisfactory pay.
He had just defeated former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman, albeit in controversial fashion, and could have been in line for the Title shot in the near future had he not jumped ship.
However, Mousasi seems happy with the level of competition in his new home, and even had this to say about his upcoming opponent Carvalho.
If he [Carvalho] was in the UFC, he would be top five probably, 10 to five, he would be ranked somewhere between there.
He’s tough, he’s skilled, he’s the champion for a reason and he hasn’t lost since 2011, I believe. As I said, he’s the champion for a reason, but I’m coming to get that belt
