With a possible UFC signing out of the window, Chandler has decided to shift his focus whole heartedly on training. Chandler, without a doubt, has his eyes set on the Bellator lightweight title, which in retrospect he never really lost. (via Twitter):

Chandler wrapped the Bellator lightweight title around his waist twice throughout the course of his career. Firstly, against former Bellator lightweight champion and former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at Bellator 106 back in 2013. He lost the title to Eddie Alvarez in a rematch via a razor thin split decision. He then won the title again at Bellator 157 in 2016.

Chandler was scheduled to take on rising prospect Brent Primus at Bellator 180 in June last year. Unfortunately, Chandler in the first round itself suffered a leg injury leading to his loss. A rematch with Primus was set for Bellator 197 in April last year. However, Primus pulled out due to an injury and was replaced by a dangerous Brandon Girtz. That however had no difference of Chandler’s outcome as he won the fight via submission in the first round.

Chandler is now looking for a shot at the title however there is another fight on which Chandler has his eyes on, a trilogy with rival Eddie Alvarez. Alvarez being a free agent, there are possibilities of the fight taking place.
