The former Bellator MMA and ONE Championship welterweight champion Ben Askren is one of the most talented and technically gifted MMA fighters on the planet, with his grappling and wrestling ability, in particular, being one of the very best in not just the UFC but the entire MMA world. Askren also has a lot charisma and personality, thus he often gives fans hilarious quotes and moments on the microphone during his interviews. He is now again set to make an appearance on noted combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani’s show. However, Andrew Davis, the Senior Stats Analyst at ESPN noticed and pointed out that it will be Askren’s 10th appearance on the show. Askren has now explained the reason behind it.
Askren being on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show at ESPN is a rather amazing thing, especially for Funky’s fans. Askren jokingly revealed that him making so many appearances isn’t an accident and that whenever Ariel needs better ratings, he calls him on the show. Here’s what he had to say:
Do you think this is an accident? @arielhelwani sees the ratings and won’t stop blowing up my phone until I come on
Below is Askren’s tweet in which he made the above statement:
