Just his second fight into the UFC and Ben Askren has already mastered the arts of selling fights. A fighting veteran, Askren is the guy who can generate polarizing emotions among fans and fighters alike by his demeanor. It is pretty evident that his next opponent, Jorge Masvidal, has generated a strong dislike for the undefeated welterweight.
Leading up to their clash, their is no love lost between the two fighters. Earlier this week Masvidal shared details of a confrontation with Askren in the hotel lobby. According to the 34 year old Masvidal, Askren “f*cking froze” when he called him out.
Askren didn’t gave a verbal reply on the matter. However, he very quietly dropped a video on Twitter that showed the entire incident captured in the lens.

“I can’t wait to break your face, baby” said Masvidal to Askren. The latter seemed disinterested in whatever was just said to him.
“Attempted intimidation,” Askren told his cameraman while exiting the room. “I don’t know if it’s going to work for him.”
The encounter looked quite contrary to what Jorge had narrated earlier in the week. “I saw him yesterday actually when no media was around, we were just in the lobby I was doing a photoshoot and he was being his pathetic self walking around and I jumped on him, and he just f**king froze,” Masvidal had said earlier. “Then he started talking and walking away, I told him to be a man and come talk to me, and he said he had to use the bathroom. He’s just a f**king coward. When I see him on the fly and we’re face-to-face his behavior is that of which he is, a b**ch, a f**king sl*t. He looked stiff as a board.”
Both the fighters are coming off of big wins. Masvidal knocked out former title contender Darren Till back in March. Even though it was his first win in three years, but still the fashion in which he achieved it was commendable.
Askren had a disputed start to his UFC journey. Despite submitting a former champ in Robbie Lawler, the decision didn’t come without its share of controversy. The undefeated Askren will look to silent the critics with a convincing victory over Masvidal. If he is successful in doing so, he may leap frog Colby Covington for a title shot.
