Mixed Martial Arts finally had it’s first ever trading deal last week. As much as trades are common in Football, NFL, NBA etc it’s a totally new concept in MMA. Ultimate Fighting Championship has finalized a deal to trade Ben Askren for Demetrius Johnson with ONE Championship.
As soon as the news of Ben Askren being traded to UFC was out, he started calling out every possible opponent he could and made it clear that he wants everybody in the Welterweight division.
34-year-old Askren, a former two-time NCAA wrestling champion and also has been the ONE championship Welterweight champion.
One such person who he called out was former title challenger Darren Till of Liverpool. Till was submitted in the second round by Tyron Woodley and failed to capture the title. He later also announced that he was loving up in the weight class.
Ben Askren recently told in his Rudis Wrestling Podcast that he will willing to fight Darren Till in his UFC debut in London.
“Obviously, my number one and two would be GSP [Georges St-Pierre] and Khabib [Nurmagomedov] but I know there’s no way in hell I’m getting either one of those two first rounds,” Askren said. “So I’m hoping to get matched up with this Englishman named Darren Till. He just fought for the world title, he’s ranked number two. I had a little Twitter fight with him. I think he’s significantly overrated. So I would like to fight him.”
Ben Askren has had a dominant MMA career, he was NCAA wrestling champion, he went to Beijing Olympics where he finished sixth, he held the Bellator MMA title, then moved to ONE championship and now is signed to the UFC.
“I’m willing to go to London to fight him, so we will see what happens with that,” Askren said.

@darrentill2 you have a good straight left, an average muay Thai clinch, below average BJJ, shitty wrestling and terrible cardio. How is it even possible that you beat me?

It would be interesting to see if Ben Askren gets a shot at Darren Till.
