Former UFC Middleweight champion Michael Bisping believes Jon Jones should opt for Francis Ngannou in his comeback fight rather than going after “The greatest heavyweight of all time” Stipe Miocic.

Michael Bisping says Jon Jones fighting Stipe Miocic would be “harder” than Francis Ngannou

After more than two years of hiatus, Jon Jones is finally set to return to the Octagon, and UFC president Dana White recently revealed that the former two time Light Heavyweight champ is ready for his heavyweight debut and will face either reigning titleholder Francis Ngannou or former champion Stipe Miocic.

With Ngannou currently in recovery from his knee injury and is set to return to action in December or next year, Miocic seems to be the prompt option for Jones, with White hinting the fight to be for the interim belt, with the winner expected to have a shot at Ngannou’s belt next.

However, Bisping opines that it would be better for Jones to wait for Ngannou rather than going after Miocic, referring to him as the G.O.A.T of the division, and saying that it would be a tougher challenge for “Bones”.

“If he fights Stipe Miocic, there’s a reality that Stipe Miocic beats him,” said Bisping on his YouTube channel, “Let’s be honest. Stipe is the greatest heavyweight of all time. The most successful defenses, the most knockouts, knocked out Fabrício Werdum… stopped D.C with body shots… and he beat Francis Ngannou as well.”

“Some of the performances have been incredible. The man is a legend in his arm right. So I think in a weird way, in terms of skill set and stylistically, Stipe Miocic could possibly be harder fight than Francis Ngannou.”

“Francis Ngannou, we know what he brings to the table. It’s that freakish power. That power that just…if he connects with people, he puts you to sleep and he doesn’t even need to be a flush shot. Unbloodybelievable! So that’s what Jones would have to avoid in that fight,” Bisping added. [H/T Sportskeeda]
