UFC: BJ Penn returns to fight – again

‘The Prodigy’ resumes.

Despite having a record on his illustrious resume which he won’t really like, of a seven-fight winning streak, former double champ B. J. Penn will return inside the octagon.

Penn (16-14-2 MMA, 12-13-2 UFC) will have a stiff task ahead of him in UFC veteran Nik ‘The Carny’ Lentz (30-10-2 MMA, 14-7-1 UFC) on an undisclosed date and location. (via Twitter):

UFC president Dana White confirmed the matchup to TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter, contradicting his own statement of not booking Penn in an another fight after losing seven in a row.

After losing against former lightweight champion Frankie ‘The Answer’ Edgar for the third time back in July 2014, Penn announced his retirement from the sport only to return back after four years. Penn took on surging prospect Yair Rodriguez in his return back in January 2017.

Penn landed a total of only 4 significant strikes before getting finished in the second round via TKO. Penn lost his last fight against another veteran in Clay Guida via unanimous decision at UFC 237 in May.

Lentz on the other hand, is 3-3 in his last six fights. Lentz was on an impressive two-fight winning streak before losing against Charles Oliveira in his last fight in May.
