David Feldman, president of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, is hopeful of extending the contract of Paige VanZant, the star of the promotion.
One of the most famous female fighters in the UFC, VanZant made a shocking move after fighting out of her UFC contract to switch sides with BKFC. While she was undoubtedly the biggest rope-in for the promotion, VanZant’s stint in the UFC has been rather disappointing, with both of her appearances ending up in losses.
In her BKFC debut against Britain Hart at BKFC Knucklemania in February 2021, followed by her second and latest fight against Rachael Ostovich at BKFC 19 in July last year, VanZant lost in both occasions via unanimous decision and has remained inactive for nearly a year and a half.
Paige VanZant will do everything she can to get into the W column: David Feldman
Amidst the rumours that ’12 Gauge’ might not decide to continue her run at BKFC, Feldman is positive that she will extend her contract and return for KnuckleMania 3 in February next year.
“I mean it’s good. If she promotes us the way she did for the first fight and does everything that she is supposed to do and comes to fight,” said Feldman on Just Scrap Radio on BJPENN.com. “The one thing about Paige is she has a lot of tenacity, she doesn’t like being in the L column every. She will do everything she can to get into the W column and that is the type of fighter we want to fight in BKFC. If she can continue to move the needle for us, and if she can, it’s tremendous and we will continue that relationship for us. If not, it was a good ride and a good decision and something we would do over again.”
“Look, at this point, it’s gotta (be something big). I keep using the term needle moving, but it has to move the needle,” the BKFC prez went on, “It doesn’t make sense for her to fight someone no one cares about. So, I think we have to put her in with a name and we have two or three we are signing and I think could be good names for her and equal competition for her as well.”
