Khamzat Chimaev, the No. 11-ranked middleweight, was set to face Robert Whittaker in the main event of UFC on ABC 6, marking the promotion’s first trip to Saudi Arabia. However, Chimaev had to withdraw due to an undisclosed illness. Bo Nickal, who has expressed interest in facing Chimaev, weighed in on the situation during his Nickals and Dimes podcast.
Nickal speculated that Chimaev might be “overpartying” rather than overtraining. He emphasized the need for Chimaev to stay healthy and keep winning. Nickal also mentioned rumors about Chimaev and fellow fighter Darren Till. While it remains unclear whether these speculations hold merit, a potential bout between Chimaev and Nickal seems inevitable if Khamzat Chimaev can recover and resume his MMA career.
“Yeah, that dude is losing his aura a bit… He just needs to keep freaking winning and not doing this crap… Who’s his last fight? It wasn’t Kevin Holland, was it? [Kamaru] Usman, yeah, he fought Usman. [He hasn’t fought a real 185er] ever… He could [do something about his illness]. That’s what I do. Don’t get sick. I’m not in a hosptial so I can [wrestle], yeah, technically.”
Nickal Continued “I don’t think he’s overtraining. I think he’s overpartying. I don’t know, probably, I don’t know. What else would it be? I’ve just heard rumors about him and [Darren] Till and stuff, like crazy stuff.”
