Bo Nickal, a rising middleweight prospect in the UFC, recently revealed that he had a golden opportunity to replace Khamzat Chimaev in the main event of UFC on ABC 6. Chimaev, ranked No. 3 in the middleweight division, was originally scheduled to face former champion, Robert Whittaker. However, fate intervened, and Nickal found himself at a crossroads.
In a candid moment on his YouTube podcast, “Nickals and Dimes,” Bo Nickal shared the details. While he was in the mountains of Montana, he received a call offering him the chance to fly to Saudi Arabia and take on Whittaker on short notice. Unfortunately, due to a lack of cell service, Nickal missed the call and returned to find urgent messages waiting for him. By then, the opportunity had slipped away.
“I did get a call. Unfortunately, I got a call while I was in the mountains of Montana and I didn’t get back to cell service for three days. I came back into cell service to a few text messages saying, ‘call me back, call me back, call me back’ and it was too late. I was like, ‘okay’.” Bo Nickal Stated.
Bo Nickal says he was contacted by UFC brass to headline #UFCSaudiArabia but couldn’t answer the calls as he had no cell service in Montana.
