The hearsay and rumours about Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather competing inside the octagon in a MMA fight have been running rampant. Many MMA fighters have been calling him out. Last week UFC lightweight Bobby Green called out Mayweather Jr. Green has now come out and explained his actions.
Green recently did an interview with MMA Junkie radio. He claimed that his rant against Mayweather was based on a deeply personal grudge. Here’s what he had to say:
I feel like Mayweather is playing with us, like trolling, Don’t troll my sport. Don’t play. This is not a game over here. We will kill you. You think this is a cakewalk? I will kill you if you step in the ring with me.
I don’t feel like boxers respect us, but if you put us in the streets, you’re not going to hit me with one shot and think you’re going to knock me out, I’ll kill you. I’ll strangle you out in the back of a parking lot, and you’ll be dead.
(I told him), ‘Listen, sir … thank you what you’ve done for black people, ‘thank you what you’ve done for me.’ And I bow to him. Mayweather looked at me – he didn’t flinch, he didn’t move, he didn’t blink. He looked straight through me as if I was not even there.
What I realised, is you can be a great person, and you can be awesome to people, and you have that one time that you showed your ass to the wrong person, and you don’t know when it’s going to come back and bite you.
I’m not saying I’m better than him, I’m just saying I’m better at that style when it comes to the full fighting skill. We’re talking punches, kicks and takedowns. I can run my style just like your style better than you can. You can’t run this and stop a takedown. You’re going to get taken down trying to shoulder roll and lean. I understand the holes to it, so I was able to perfect it better than he can run that game in an actual fight.
